De 9 Straatjes stands for 3×3 cozy shoppingstreets and 4 canals between Raadhuisstraat en Leidsegracht. In the middle of the Unesco World Heritage Canal Belt. Packed with wonderful monuments and canal palaces. Just behind the Palace on Dam Square direction Singel. The 9 Streets is in the middle of the Canal Belt with Singel, Herengracht, Keizersgracht and Prinsengracht. It forms the heart between Dam Square, Flowermarket, Leidseplein and Westertoren. All around Wolvenstraat.

This unique area offers not only special shops and eateries but also a complete overview of all building styles of 17th century Amsterdam. From wonderful canal houses to small, monumental shops.
Along the Keizersgracht and Herengracht at the nine little streets you will also find some of the finest hotels in Amsterdam. And icons as Huis Marseille (Museum of Photography), Culturehous Felix Meritis and Museum the Canalhouse.

Even after 400 years it is very lively with artisanal businesses, charming bars and restaurants and a unique offer of specialized and mostly authentic shops.

How it started? During the nineties last century entrepreneurs organized themselves and came up with the name De 9 Straatjes for a new attraction in the Amsterdam Canal Belt.
This special and unique locality goes from mishmash to chic and from ethnic to antique, vintage and contemporary. A must if you want to hang out where the locals do, according to Thomas Cook TM.

Looking for public transport close to De 9 Straatjes? Try Dam Square, Spui, Elandsgracht or Leidseplein. Walk into the Canal Belt and look for Wolvenstraat, Hartenstraat, Huidenstraat. There you are in the middle of the 9 little streets.

Most shops are open every day from about 10 or 11 till 6 or 7. And every sunday from 12 o’clock.
